Design & Desire, by Keith Helfet

Design & Desire tells the remarkable story of Keith Helfet, the South African-born designer whose career took him from shaping a second hand Triumph Spitfire with foam and plaster to creating some of Jaguar’s most celebrated cars.

After studying at the Royal College of Art, Helfet joined Jaguar and worked under the guidance of Sir William Lyons, going on to design the legendary XJ220, the XK180 and the F-type concept of 2000.

Illustrated with more than 160 photographs and drawings, many from Helfet’s personal collection, the book offers an intimate insight into more than four decades of automotive and product design, including a dedicated account of the creation of the XJ220 in Helfet’s own words.
