The name Norman Dewis is well known in motoring circles as someone who has done it all: racing, rallying, high-speed record breaking and, above all, testing Jaguars for development and production. He started working for Jaguar on 1st January 1952, as Chief Test Driver and Development Engineer, initially testing the new disc brakes that Dunlop were developing in partnership with Jaguar. In 1961 Norman famously drove the first E-type Roadster 77RW, non-stop, overnight from Coventry to the Geneva Motor Show. He was involved in testing all Jaguar’s cars, racing and production, right through to his retirement in 1985.

Norman led a long and active life in the motor industry and in retirement was as busy as ever, as a valued ambassador for Jaguar Cars.

A two disc interview with Norman Dewis filmed on 20th May 2015.
Commissioned by Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust.
